The start of the new Premier League season has seen the bookmakers two favourite for the title: Manchester City and Manchester United, live up to their pre-season expectations. Both Mancunian clubs have made fine starts to the league campaign each winning six and drawing one of their opening seven games so far.

City have had the harder fixtures so far, playing both Liverpool and Chelsea so it's Pep Guardiola's side who are the odds-on favourites. The Blues look to have stepped it up a gear from last season where they made a strong start only to fade away and the hope this season is that the City squad are fully in-tune with Guardiola's demands and can keep their form up over the course of the campaign.

Manchester United meanwhile also look much improved on last year, with Jose Mourinho's side displaying the kind of ruthlessness in finishing teams off that cost them so dearly in his first season in charge. The Portuguese boss has a good record in winning league titles during his second season with teams and punters are clearly attracted to United's prospects.

Chelsea and Tottenham were last year's top two and are the third and fourth favourites for the title this year respectively. Both sides have made good starts to the season though not quite at the level of the two Manchester clubs so could represent the value options. Arsenal and Liverpool meanwhile appear to have their flaws and are now priced accordingly.

At the bottom, Crystal Palace are odds-on for relegation after a miserable start to the season losing all seven of their opening games without even scoring a goal. It's been a dreadful start for the Eagles and it's difficult to see them picking up any kind of momentum to get their season going. Newly promoted Brighton and Huddersfield are also in the relegation mix according to the bookies as are Swansea and Bournemouth after difficult starts.

In the race for the Premier League Golden Boot, it's Harry Kane who leads proceedings in his pursuit of the accolade for a third successive year but he's closely followed by Romelu Lukaku. The Belgian has made a fine start to life as a Manchester United player and looks best placed to stop Kane in his tracks.
