Possessing the league’s stingiest defence whilst boasting the most lethal attack, it should be no surprise that Charlton are romping away at the top of League One. Coming off a 0-4 thumping of Chesterfield in the week, the Addicks are on the road again this weekend in Bournemouth. At 10/11 for the victory against John Sheridan’s strugglers, Charlton were amazing value. This time round, the bookies surely know something that we don’t, as they are pricing them at 13/8 (BetVictor). Call me boring, but a key rule of betting is go with the form horse. Bournemouth have lost their last three, Charlton have won their last two and seven out of 10. I know where I’m putting my money.
Another play-off hunting team is on a roll, as MK Dons hope they can pull back some ground on the three Yorkshire teams that are directly above them in the table. After a slightly barren patch, three wins in a row have given Karl Robinson belief that this can be the year promise turns into production. An away visit to Hartlepool is this weekend’s challenge, and the Dons should be able to put a few past Jeff Stelling’s heroes as Wycombe managed five last weekend. Another interesting fact for you is that the Dons have already had two five-match winning streaks this season; this would be their fourth straight if they could come away from Victoria Park with the win. BetVictor have the best value on this one, 5/4 for an away win.
Into League Two, and second-place Cheltenham stand out for me as a no-brainer this weekend. They come up against Northampton who are at the bottom of the division. The home side are dominant at home, conceding only nine goals at Whaddon Road. Aidy Boothroyd’s troops, on the other hand, cannot stop teams scoring on them, and because of this I like the home side to carry on their terrific campaign at BetVictor’s 7/10.
The final tip on this weekend’s accumulator is Aldershot, who bring into their game with Morecambe a five-match winning streak. The home side are clearly strong enough to stay in the division, but the big question is whether they have the depth to push for an unlikely promotion place. They should be able to get past the Shrimps who have fallen flat after a positive start to the season. Three wins in their last 17 outings suggests that you should back the home side at even money (1/1) with BetFred.
Charlton to win at Bournemouth (13/8 with BetVictor)
MK Dons to win at Hartlepool (5/4 with BetVictor)
Cheltenham to beat Northampton (7/10 with BetVictor)
Aldershot to beat Morecambe (1/1 with BetFred)
A four-fold accumulator comes in at around 20/1.
