Charity Bet Tipster Competition: Week Four

December 9th, 2011 by Jaymes Monte

Week three was another disappointing week for most of our tipster as only Jonathan Wilson picked out a winner. Will they fair any better this week?

“This tipping malarkey isn’t as easy as it seems,” hollered one tipster to another across the crowded campus where all football writers live. “You’re right,” came the reply of a solemn voice drenched in self-doubt, a reply that said, without actually saying, “have I made the right decisions in life? Am I really cut out for this?”

"That was liquid football."

No, the above isn’t a snippet from Alan Partridge’s book, it really happened. As Macintosh, Brassell, Lyttleton and In Bed With Maradona all failed to find a winner last week, only Wilson could close the gap, by £3.25, at the top. And so the latest table is as follows;

1. Andy Brassell – £21.25
2. Jonathan Wilson – £9
3. Iain Macintosh – £4.50
4. Ben Lyttleton – £0
5. In Bed With Maradona – £0

Here’s hoping for better luck this week. Don’t forget you can follow all of our tipsters’ selections by betting with our kind sponsors Titanbet. If you don’t already have a Titanbet account then click on the banner below and you’re on your way to qualifying for a £35 free bet.

IM – Sunderland v Blackburn – Over 2.5 goals @ 4/5
Manchester City made me look stupid last week, so I’m going for a safety bet this time. Expect a ‘new manager bounce’ from Sunderland on Sunday as they welcome Martin O’Neill to the Stadium of Light. I think they’ll want to impress their new boss and I think they’ll score. The same goes for Blackburn Rovers. For all their problems, and there are many, they have no problem hitting the back of the net. Steve Kean’s side have scored eight in their last three league games. Furthermore, they’ve only failed to score on three occasions. More than 2.5 goals? At 1.78, it’ll almost double your money.

BL – Swansea 1 Fulham 0 @ 61/10
Swansea have only conceded two goals in six home matches and Fulham scored just four in six on the road. So don’t expect many goals in this one. While Fulham’s defence is solid, I fancy Swansea to turn possession into chances and take one for a narrow home win. Bottom of the table: I need this one to come off!

IBWM – Man Utd -1.5 goals (Asian Handicap) @ 7/10
I think Manchester United will have a huge point to prove after their humiliating mid-week relegation to Thursday nights & Channel 5, Rooney’s had a huge boost by gaining a game back at the Euros & will find form again, I’m backing them to beat Wolves by 2 or more goals.

JW – Swansea 0 Fulham 0 @ 73/10
Given Swansea’s seven home games have yielded just 10 goals and Fulham’s seven away games just 11, I would back under-2.5 goals at 13/20. In fact if you’re betting money, do that. But as this tipping contest counts only profit and not whether you get your stake back, there’s little point going for cautious bets, so let’s use the same information to chase something a bit longer.

AB – Arsenal v Everton – Draw @ 14/5
This seems a decent price, even if Everton have only drawn one match this season. Moyes’ lot have been playing well, despite last week’s unfortunate loss to Stoke, whereas Arsenal still have the capacity to frustrate at home, as evidenced in their last Premier League home game, when they drew with Fulham.
