A collective sigh of relief emanated from the Charity Bet Tipster Competition locker room last week as a hat-trick of blanks was averted….
Both IBWM and Ben picked out winners last weekend, but they were each forced to sweat it out in the second half as Luis Suarez left it late to tip the Liverpool v Man United game over the 2.5 threshold and QPR threatened a comeback against Blackburn.
This week three of our tipsters’ charities are depending on events at the Stadium of Light, while Andy has gone for his now customary outsider and Ben has confessed to a bird watching fixation. Here’s how the table looks after 13 weeks…
1.Andy Brassell – £62.25
2.Iain Macintosh – £39.50
3.IBWM – £26
4.Jonathan Wilson – £17.25
5.Ben Lyttleton – £13.25
As ever, a big thanks goes out to Titanbet who are stumping up the cash for this competition. If you want to follow any of our tipsters’ selections then click here to go to Titanbet where you will also qualify a £35 free bet.
BL – Norwich v Leicester – Over 2.5 goals @ 4/5
I like watching Canaries these days (editor: we deleted the word ‘the’ purely for childish giggles): coach Paul Lambert is not afraid to mix things up, and players like Anthony Pilkington, Steve Morison and Grant Holt have been a breath of fresh air. Leicester’s squad has lots of top-flight experience – the likes of Konchesky, Vassell, Beckford, Oakley and in-form Nugent – but I fancy they will just fall short in a high-scoring thriller.
JW – Arsenal to beat Sunderland @ 7/5
Poor internet facilities in Yaounde this time, so let’s just hedge. Obviously I actually want Sunderland to win.
IM – Sunderland to beat Arsenal @ 9/5
They say that the definition of insanity is to do the same thing over and over again, expecting a different result. Well, I defy that maxim. Last week, I said Sunderland would beat Arsenal and, for five glorious minutes, I looked pretty awesome. Then it all went horribly wrong. This week, I’m giving it another crack. Arsenal will be lower than Nick Cave’s mating call after having their pants pulled down in Milan and this time, there’s no Thierry Henry to save them…
IBWM – Sunderland to beat Arsenal @ 9/5
I watched Arsenal toil fruitlessly at the San Siro this week, and while I’m not sure that ‘shell-shocked’ necessarily applies right now, there must have been some soul searching going on in the Gunners dressing room post match. Invariably Arsenal are always just two games away from being ‘IN CRISIS’ and while I’m not sure that actually applies here, I can foresee the sharpening of tabloid blades following this weekend.
Sunderland and Martin O’Neill will want to extract some revenge for their recent defeat at home to Arsene Wenger’s side and I think they will…..
AB – Crawley to beat Stoke @ 49/20
It’s a reflection of both Crawley’s wealth and Steve Evans’ abrasiveness that few of their League Two peers will be cheering them on against Stoke. A shock is on the cards here though, with the Potters coming off four successive losses and perhaps tired after a taxing Thursday game in Europe.
